CS371P Spring 2021 Week 4: Nhat Minh Nguyen
1.What did you do this past week?
For the OS class, I implemented some basic concepts of a kernel which are concurrency and threading. They are so abstract and difficult to understand but I hope that things will be cleared up eventually.
For OOP class, I have not done well for the first project due to doing it so late. This will never happen in the next project.
2. What will you do next week?
I still have something to catch up with my OS class. I hope I can take advantage of a few next canceled days to do that.
3. If you read it, what did you think of the Pair Programming?
I have heard about this method back when I took CS314 class. There were a few assignments in CS314 that I can do with a partner, however, I choose to work individually. After reading about the article this week, I found that this method is pretty useful and interesting. However, with the current situation, we can only do pair assignments virtually by sharing a screen. I think this change may not bring to us all the benefit which Pair Programming is supposed to do.
4. What was your experience of operators, pointers, and references? (this question will vary, week to week)
I have heard about operators, pointers, and references before but I had a little bit confused about the difference between passing a reference and a pointer in a function. However, with a clear explanation of Dr. Downing from the most recent lecture, I understood it better now and felt more confident about taking advantage of them in the future.
5. What made you happy this week?
Lunar New Year of course, although I did not have a chance to celebrate it in person with my family like in other years, I still have a good time talking with my family.
6. What’s your pick-of-the-week ?
For the ones who love Pho, I think 888 Pan is the best place in Austin for having a bowl of Pho in this cold weather, however, be safe driving.
